ZENBI

Territory: Canada (Exclusive) & USA & Mexico (Non-Exclusive)
Origin: Philadelphia, USA

Not your average DJ/Producer. Born and raised in Philadelphia (with the #phillyas***k fridge magnets to prove it) he is a chart topping producer, global DJ, multi-instrumentalist, creative and proven party promoter across three US cities.

Immersed in the sounds of local legends Josh Wink and King Britt, he began spinning vinyl in his home city in the mid 90’s. His sound evolved quickly into an infectious blend of house, techno, Latin and tribal grooves. As a skilled bass player and percussionist – keeping a drum kit in his home studio – his emphasis has always been on the groove. And the name Zenbi? ‘Good and Beautiful’ roughly translated, from Japanese – a country he has extensively travelled to and a nod to a lifelong passion and deep appreciation for that country’s culture and art.

Back home his residences and parties across NYC, Philly, DC and Miami have become the stuff of folklore and provided him with the base to launch an international DJ career and establish a thriving production schedule. His production company SOUP NYC (alongside founders Love and Logic) has established New York’s hottest party promotion company and most hyped label of recent years. He has been instrumental in bringing the likes of Doc Martin, Derrick Carter, Claude Von Stroke, Harry Romero and the biggest names in global underground music to a series of innovative, packed out afterhours parties in Brooklyn.

This golden touch is no coincidence. Previously holding down 3 year, dual residence Zenbi parties at Lima in DC and Rumour in Philly, he brought to both cities the cream of international underground talent. A strong connection was also forged with the Winter Music Conference, resulting in a series of legendary parties around Miami year on year, featuring the likes of Nina Kraviz, Chus & Ceballos, Coyu, Andrea Olivia, UNER and many more.

Going global, ZENBI has packed crowds out from Boston to Budapest, Milan to Munich, London to Lima and Tulum to Toronto. He’s performed and curated parties at major dance music festivals including 8PM, Miami Music Week, Groove Cruise, SodaPop Milano, and ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event). A prior partnership with electronic music event production company AOE, gave him a deep understanding of large scale events and the opportunity to perform alongside acts such as Aviici, Alesso and Bingo Players.

He also enjoys a storied career as a producer. His discography reads like a who’s who list of underground labels including Skint, Great Stuff, Twisted, Vendetta, Disc Doctor, Low Kik, SK Supreme and of course, his own Zenbi imprint which launched his production career.

Several ZENBI releases have graced the Beatport Top Ten — including Stefano Noferini’s remix of Double Trouble, which claimed the number one position on the Tech House charts for over 5 weeks. Remixers and collaborators have included the aforementioned Stefano Noferini, UNER, Ron Costa, Supernova and many more. And playlist support? Try Moby, Mark Knight, Marco Carola, Roger Sanchez, Umek, Danny Tenaglia, Erick Morillo, Dubfire, Paco Osuna, David Penn, Satoshi Tommie (to name a few).

But in a sense, this is all just the first act. Although having only selectively released over the last year (a much lauded EP on Dubfire’s SCI+TEC a particular highlight) plus some select remixes on SOUP – an inspired and rejuvenated ZENBI has been back in the studio in putting serious hours into his debut album. A body of new material inspired by the success and music direction of the SOUP night and music policy is set to result in a slew of new interest in ZENBI.

Prepare to get good and beautiful all over again.
